My Paris, Week 18: Salon du Chocolat, Tasting Menu at Verjus, and a Party
This week, we visited the Salon du Chocolat, a huge chocolate expo at the Porte de Versailles. It was a chocolate, and people, overload — perhaps we should have expected it, since there are very few foods that people are more passionate about than chocolate.

We also finally got a chance to try the tasting menu at Verjus. I know I’ve been posting about Verjus a lot, but that’s all been the wine bar, not the restaurant proper.
I’ve had a lot of good meals in Paris, but this has been my favorite so far. Everything was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked and the service was warm and generous.
The eye candy wasn’t bad either.

Then we had a party at our place! A little cheese, a little wine, some friends, music, and making fools of ourselves playing Kinect games.

Stunning photos!
I approve of the copious amounts of cheese at your party. Also, I saw that my friend Andrew was at your party! Classy hat.
As I said to my fromager, “It’s a party with expats… but it’s a French party, so of course we need cheese.”
How do you know Andy?
HA HA. Love that you have a fromager. We went to USC together and our hometowns are actually like 20 minutes away from one another. He was the one who introduced me to Ariane!
Wow. Now this must be heaven!
OMG chocolate expo?! You’d better have bought me something to send with the wax-sealed letter!
Chocolate and cheese in one post? It’s too much to bear!
Beautiful photos. What software do you use to create the collages?
Oh those deli meats…tell me you’re going to have more parties?!
[…] originally made this apple butter for that party last weekend, to pair with salty cheeses and buttery foie gras, but it works equally well here. […]
Hi, Your pictures and perspective are really great!!! Everything is attractive to me 🙂
Especially, I wonder what about picture “Chocolate 6” ? It’s looks like something Whoopie or asian traditional cake. What is that? name, location, how taste…
Please let me know 😀
Hi, I think they were matcha pancakes in the style of Japanese dorayaki, but with macarons on the inside instead of red bean. I believe it was at the booth for Aoki, a patisserie here in Paris.
[…] an extra bit of decadence (and because the foie gras from that party was still around), I shaved a bit of the cold foie gras on top of the slices of tart. If the tart […]
[…] turns out the menu for the evening was similar to the one we’d had before so — get this — he had created a new menu just for […]
