Road Trip!

O and I took a road trip a couple weekends ago to San Francisco. On the way up, we took mostly PCH and the 101, which hug the coast, but which were unfortunately sheathed in fog the whole way. On the way back down to LA, though, we took the I-5, which is long and straight, cutting straight down the middle of the state.

Not that we didn’t take a couple of accidental detours that showed us unexpectedly pretty, winding two-lane paths that were nearly deserted.

As a native Californian, I had always thought of the 5 as “the ugly way” between LA and the Bay Area. Just a way to get from Point A to Point B with not much to look at in between. Turns out there’s a lot to see if you’re not a native — there’s nothing like this in France!

I once took a detour off the 5 because there was construction… I think it was Highway 33? It was pretty cool.

  3. Your photos are beautiful, but if you think you cant get places like this in France, you need to visit the Pyrenees!

So beautiful! I love road trips, and have yet to take one in California. Definitely on my list!

  5. Hello darling girl! Those are such gorgeous photos!! I’m planning to come to California in the spring time next year; would love to see you! In the meantime, maybe a meet-up in Paris again? ๐Ÿ™‚ Sending you lots and lots of love and good energy xxx

We did SF to LA for part of our honeymoon with stops along the way but because the PCH was shut due to mudslides in certain areas we ended up on this road for part of the time. Honestly while it seemed annoying at the time… I agree with you – there is something very cool about the drive. Definitely a drive to remember (especially while getting sunburned in a convertible!)

    • Yep, it definitely gets a little too hot on the grapevine for a convertible! My air conditioning could barely keep up with the 110*F temps outside.

Will you be around when I visit Paris the 3rd week of September? We should meet up if so! And let me know if you want me to bring you anything back from the States. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been lurking on your blog all summer and must tell you how much I love it. Your photos are so beautiful and I want to make pretty much all your food. It’s one of my favorites. I think I read the whole thing this summer!
