Why hello! My name is Diane. I’m a twenty-something girl who grew up in Los Angeles, went to school, got a corporate job, then up and moved to Paris for love and adventure.

This blog is a travelogue, of sorts, of the year-or-so I am spending abroad, and the food I encounter (eat, buy too much of, obsess over) during it.

I have an ongoing, passionate love affair with food. My idea of a perfect day is walking down Rue de Rivoli, talking to the vendors at the fromageries, boulangeries, greenmarkets, and specialty stores, picking the best and the freshest of the season, then bringing it home to make something delicious for lunch. Then going to a restaurant for dinner where the chefs can amaze and enchant me with what they can achieve with the same stunning produce — with a glass or two of wine, of course.

I shoot on a Sony NEX-6 with a Nikon 1.8f/35mm lens and sometimes my iPhone 4S. I chase the light around my living room.

I cook in a tiny kitchen where my oven is only about fifteen inches wide, and I don’t have a microwave. I do all my prep on a two-foot-by-two-foot tiled counter. I cope by swapping out lots of cutting boards.

I bitch about the weather a lot.

My favorite thing to bake is chocolate chip cookies.

My favorite quick weeknight meal is stir-fry.

My favorite dessert is crème brûlée

I think I write better when I’m caffeinated.

Bourbon is my favorite.

I do antiquated things like crocheting lace doilies. I also used to own a spinning wheel and spun yarn as a side job during college.

Nine times out of ten, I prefer beer to wine, but I prefer champagne over everything.

I like to listen to music while I cook. Sometimes I dance along. Sometimes this causes kitchen accidents.

Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
