MEAT. Hot, glistening, enormous MEAT.
That’s probably all I need to say about chi SPACCA, but here’s some more:
A ton of salumi. Our server informed us that there is a literal ton of smoked and cured meats hanging behind the kitchen.
I mean, you have to respect anyone who has whipped lard on a menu in LA.
Plus, they have found a way to combine my love of pot pie, boeuf bourguignon, and bone marrow all in the same dish, except even more decadent than that description makes it sound.

On a night so cold that my glasses immediately fogged up upon entering the building, I met up with T for drinks and snacks at Septime’s new offshoot bottle shop / wine bar.
Let’s get our expectations straightened out: Septime La Cave is not the kind of wine bar to which one goes for dinner. One goes for some nice little nibbles and a glass or two of beautiful wine.
There are bottles, which can be had for a €7 corkage fee, lining the walls. No tables to speak of, but a bit of counter space to work with.

This week, we visited the Salon du Chocolat, a huge chocolate expo at the Porte de Versailles. It was a chocolate, and people, overload — perhaps we should have expected it, since there are very few foods that people are more passionate about than chocolate.

This week I met up with the awesome Caroline of Sweet Caroline in Paris for noshing, gossiping, and discussion of the state of musical theatre in Paris (conclusion: meh).
But before that, I stumbled upon this adorable and eclectic boutique called Les Fleurs just east of the Bastille. I am not exaggerating when I say I wanted to take home everything in this store. Can’t you just imagine waking up to these whimsical paper decorations floating above your bed?
