As you may have surmised, I went to a lot of restaurants while I was in Paris. Something I might have failed to mention is that, on occasion, I bought the cookbooks from those restaurants.
Now that I’ve been back in LA for several weeks, I’ve gotten over the fun of eating everything that I missed while I was abroad (In-n-Out! hoppy beer!) and am now starting to miss my favorite restaurants in Paris. So I thought, why not try to reproduce some of these dishes at home?
Let’s start with a simple one from Frenchie. A play on the traditional caprese, this salad replaces tomatoes with roughly-torn ripe summer peaches and counterpoints them with savory, smoky mozzarella.
Then? You drizzle on lots of the good stuff.

This is one of those recipes I had to make five times over before I posted it on the blog, because each time I made a batch I ate all of it before I got pictures.
You’d be surprised how quickly one smallish Asian girl can scarf down two apples’ worth of chips, especially if they’ve been baked to a caramelly brown and have the scent of pumpkin spice coming off of them.
Can you tell I’m obsessed? In fact, I’ve got another batch of them in the oven right now, making the apartment smell of apple pie heaven. I keep thinking I’m going to wrap them up all pretty and give them to friends as little gifts, but then I just eat them all again. I mean, it’s not like they’re deep fried or anything.

Sometimes, you are invited to two or three apéro/cocktail/dinner parties in one weekend. And clearly, you don’t want to show up empty-handed. And it just so happens that it’s the enchanting time of year when lush, shining berries and figs, leaking juice, are all over the markets. If you ever find yourself in such a situation, make these. Take them to parties on a pretty tray.
