Another photo assignment during my recent week in Paris: Le Mary Celeste!
Le Mary Celeste, or LMC for short, holds a special place in my heart. I attended the Brooklyn Brewery launch party there with a huge group of friends, which involved copious amounts of free craft beer. (Tests indicate that free craft beer will win you my friendship and admiration approximately 100% of the time.)
I also had the opportunity to interview chef Haan a few months ago, and I’ve got to say that his food just keeps getting better and better — not to say that I didn’t miss that incredible cauliflower dish they had on the menu a while back this time.

Hey, remember those photo assignments I went to Paris for? This was the first — one of my favorite places in my old neighborhood, the Marais.
By now, lots of you know that Candelaria is the best place in Paris to get your Mexican food fix along with your artisan cocktail fix. But did you know that it’s also the best place to nurse your Sunday morning hangover with delicious huevos rancheros and hair of the dog drinks? Even better: it’s usually just tacos in the front and cocktails in the back, but during brunch you get to dine and drink in that awesome speakeasy back room.
Mexican food has long been my morning-after-party craving, so this seems a natural and perfect combination to me. I wasn’t hung over when I showed up a couple of weeks ago for the first of many shoots during my week in Paris, but I was coming off of nearly twenty-four hours of plane and and airport time, so close enough?

I never thought I would be so happy to say that Chipotle has opened in Paris.
Judge not, ye Angelenos. You know you would miss it too. Decent Mexican places are few and far between in the City of Lights, and most of them are sit-down affairs. I don’t need a waiter to bring me a burrito. Burritos are for 1pm hangover Sundays, taken home in a paper bag and eaten with Tapatio while watching Netflix. Burritos are for picking up for lunch breaks and eating in the kitchen with the attorneys watching People’s Court. To a Californian, burritos are comfort food. A big squishy hug contained inside a warm flour tortilla.
